Description
This fine aquatint (a kind of etching) purchased in 1987 works with the narrow band of winter’s cool tonalites, a technical decision that skilfully matches process with imagery. In aquatints, lines are formed only by the edges of areas of tone, so this image conveys the restricting but entrancing effect of snow’s capacity to blot out detail. The work was exhibited by the Wakari Art group, whose members celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2022.
